Motorola Announces the Cliq Android Phone

HTC Announces Touch2
HTC has been getting in on the act today with the unveilling of the Touch2, a compact WinMo smartphone that will be one of the first devices to run WinMo 6.5, which will itself be unveiled on 6th October. Other pioneering efforts include support for Windows Marketplace and Microsoft My Phone. HTC’s TouchFlo UI has been given a revamp with lessons learned from the popular Sense UI found on HTC’s Android devices.
The handsets ships with Internet Explorer Mobile, which includes Flash Lite meaning that there is some native Flash support even if it isn’t the full hog. A text optimization option allows the user to resize onscreen text for best results. The My Phone service allows the backing up of information like pictures, music and contacts straight from the handset to the web. Available in Q4 pricing hasn’t yet been confirmed.

Samsung Corby Pro (Samsung Genio Pro / B5310)

Following on from the original Samsung Corby (or Genio), the most obvious improvement with the Corby Pro is the keyboard, but the handset also adds 3.5G and WiFi support and a better camera to the mix.
Don't think that the Corby Pro is some sort of fuddy-duddy business phone, the customised TouchWiz interface has a cartoony feel to it, and the media player supports all major formats including DivX video. The Corby Pro also has an integrated FM radio and a useful 3.5mm audio socket.
The Corby Pro is designed to be used with social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook through built-in applications. It also supports popular web mail applications plus standard email protocols, and one neat thing is that the Corby Pro can send messages and updates out to several sites at the same time.. including Blogger, LinkedIn and Flickr.
There are a range of different colours available, as with other handsets in the Corby / Genio line-up. In this case the phone has changeable battery covers, so you can easily change the colour if you get bored with it. The overall design of the handset is fairly straightforward, it borrows heavily from theS3650 when it comes to the detailing. Overall, the appearance is quite pleasing.
All these features take their toll when it comes to weight, the Corby Pro comes in at 134 grams and measures 105 x 57 x 16mm. Internal memory is 100MB, expandable to 16GB using a microSD card. Talktime isn't specified, but the 960 mAh battery isn't particularly large.
The Corby Pro (or Genio Pro) seems to be a very capable device, combining a good specification set with some fun features that could give it a wide appeal. Samsung haven't given any guidance on price, although they do say that the Corby Pro should start to be available in Europe from November 2009 onwards.

Samsung Star WIFI version

My latest love in life is the Samsung Star S 5230 – also known as , the poor mans Iphone. What had me most excited was that it had widgets for everything, along with being a touch screen and being super affordable (15,500 rs). Amazing right?!
I got an opportunity to use it, a friend who owns it pointed out to me how hard it was to use the touch screen – u have to almost hit the screen with your finger to make it move or slide, and I’m guessing thats where the stylus comes in handy.
Another major draw back was that it didn’t have wifi – and this was getting to me to the extent of not wanting the phone any more. Well, That has finally been resolved – Samsung has finally launched a version of the phone with Wifi, called the S5230W, and according to various sources, the wifi phone will be launched in Asia and Middle east with the name Samsung Star S5233W,it has been launched internationally in early September, but is yet to come to Pakistan.
So look out for it – with all the features it has, it makes it worth dealing with a difficult screen. Given below are the specs

The once rumored Nokia Xseries is now official as Nokia has just announced two devices to spearheead this new range of phones: the Nokia X6 and the X3.

Nokia N900: AT&T/Rogers Announcement Imminent?

It's been a while since the world has been as excited about a Nokia product as they are about N900. The fact that it runs on the Maemo 5OS instead of Nokia's old (lackluster) standby, Symbian, is reason enough alone to be giddy. We know this phone will be hitting the T-Mobile network this October and, if Boy Genius is correct, it'll be hitting the AT&T and Rogers wireless networks in fairly short order.
They have what is (reportedly) an email from a Nokia emplyee to a customer. In the email, the employee seems to confirm a WCDMA comatible version of the N900. Here's the relevant text: "Regarding the network bands, you are correct - we anounced a WCDMA 900/1700/2100 MHz bands. We have not made an annoucements regarding an 850/1900/2100 MHz band device. An announcement will be forthcoming."
'Forthcoming' sound very imminent in that context. Please keep in mind that the realease of 850/1900/2100 MHz band N900s is still totally unconfirmed. This rumor has no independent verification and the email could very well be a fabrication. It's also entirely possbile that a customer service employee at Nokia was just talking out of his ass. If this rumor is valid, we will see an annoucement from Nokia very soon.

Altek T8680 - More 12 MP Cameraphone

It’s probably just as well for the major manufacturers that the T8680 is limited to the Chinese market as its price tag is less than $500, which is pretty good for a 12 MP cameraphone! Sony Ericsson has its own 12 MP behemoth, Satio, coming later this year, and Samsung is rolling with the Pixon 12 MP. Rumour has itt hat Nokia too will jump on the 12 MP bandwagon later this year, but that’s more likely to be an announcement than a product launch.

Nokia Aeon
Nokia maintains a Research and Development website that is usually filled with, well Research and Development stuff. Mostly it’s just boring images of scientists and r&d people at work – at least until you scroll to the top. That’s where the images of Nokia’s latest “research concept” phone are currently housed.
The “Aeon” seems to be your “typical” razr-thin candybar form factor cell phone with no actual buttons. No, it’s not the next generation of Nokia’s L’amour Fashion Collection. The bottom half of the prototype pictured here is actually a touch-screen display that can change (I might be going out on a limb here) into any kind of menu, button, keypad, whatever. It’s so damn cool that I’m almost speechless. I mean, yeah, the touch screen method brings up a ton of quirky problems – like causing damage to the display with those pointy thumbs of yours, among others – but it’s also so innovative and (brilliantly simple) that I can’t even associate it with the Nokia name. What happened to those super thick oversized fatso phones that Nokia keeps churning out?
So the Aeon got me pretty excited about what’s coming in the future of wireless technology. Of course, by the time this phone actually comes to market (if ever), I’m sure Motorola will have similar devices available, all with those really annoying vowel-less names that nobody wants to pronounce. I really hope their next set of phones are called KRPR or something. It’d be more fitting.

HTC Hero

Bad news for HTC Hero fans today as it emerged that the launch of the much anticipated handset may be delayed. Phone Arena are mentioning a release date of 21st July based upon comments made on cleverkit.com whilst Engadget are quoting Amazon as saying the release date will be on 24th July. Either way it isn’t good news for those who were looking forward to a release tomorrow.
Of course it may be that the release will go ahead as planned tomorrow on Orange UK, but that retailers offering the handset only will have to wait a week or two to begin selling the device. The HTC Hero is the third Android powered handset to go on sale and will be much anticipated as a result.

Nokia 6700 Classic Mobile

The slim and stylish no-nonsense handset has been a Nokia trademark ever since the 6300 took the world by storm a few years back. However, it's only now after a run of equally popular successors that we realize just how much the Slim Finn changed the rules of the game. And the Nokia 6700 classic is here to say that no matter how simple and seemingly perfect things are, they can always get better.
Nokia 6700 classic official photos
Not everyone wants a high-end camera, a huge touchscreen or a QWERTY keyboard and - even if they do - not everyone is keen to dish out. The extra features are always welcome to have on board but in the end it's about the core functions of a phone that you want to work and want to work well. They say money can't buy you love but when a handset is great at the basics and looks like a million bucks it has every right to disagree. And the Nokia 6700 classic, like its forerunners, seems to know just how to please a massive crowd.
Key Features
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support
- Tri-band 3G with 10Mbps HSDPA and 2Mbps HSUPA
- Slim and sharp
- Solid metal casing and beautiful design
- 2.2" 16M-color QVGA display with excellent sunlight legibility
- 5 megapixel camera, autofocus and LED flash
- VGA video recording at 15fps
- Built-in GPS receiver
- S40 user interface, 6th edition
- Built-in accelerometer sensor
- Tap-for-time and turn-to-mute
- Stereo FM radio with RDS
- Bluetooth (with A2DP) and microUSB port
- microSD card slot (16 GB supported, 1GB included)
- Rich preinstalled application package
- Ovi Maps and Ovi Share
- Push notifications
- Dedicated camera key and good image quality
Main disadvantages:
- Memory card slot under the back cover
- Smallish display
- S40 interface feels clunky and out of date
- No smart dialing, multi-tasking or even an office document viewer
- No 3.5 audio jack
- Poor image gallery
A brief look at the features listed above is enough to convince you that the Nokia 6700 classic is more than a pretty face. However we doubt it that anyone with I-want-features-and-I-want-them-all mentality will put it on top of their shopping list. On the other hand, the extra stuff will be better used to persuade Nokia 6500 classic owners that there is enough there for an upgrad
By the way, one of the best-equipped S40 handsets might also be able to convert new fans who want decent functionality but are intimidated by smartphones. Until recently Sony Ericsson, LG and Samsung were enjoying a free run there, but with the Nokia 6600i slide and the Nokia 6700 classic, the market leader is quite keen to regain some of that ground.
Anyway, one thing we know is we shouldn't keep a stunning looker like the Nokia 6700 classic in that cardboard box any longer. Hit the jump to get to the real deal and prepare to be jealous.

There are only three buttons on the front: one for making calls, one for ending calls, and one central Back button for navigating backward through menus. We love the minimal use of buttons, and the phone has a silver striped border, leaving most of the navigation to the clean UI and touchscreen. The right side does have a few additional buttons for volume controls, locking the phone, and launching the camera. On the top right corner is a barely noticeable slot where a large antenna hides; you can pull it out to improve TV reception.

Sony unveils PSP go:: unique gadget

Looks like Sony can’t really keep their secrets from leaking out to the public before the official announcement, as image leaks as well as whispers of the PSP go were already making their rounds well ahead of the E3 announcement. Well, for those who recently picked up a Sony PSP-3000 (yes, it is in its third iteration already for that particular generation), there is a new device that looks set to displace the PSP-3000 in due time - assuming it does crazily well, of course. We’re guessing that Sony is taking Nintendo’s similar approach as they did all those years ago, touting the DS Phat to be the “third pillar”, only bringing it to the forefront and discontinuing the Game Boy line when the DS was found to be doing exceptionally well. Only time will tell, but let us take a look at the Sony PSP go in greater detail today.
The PSP go will arrive in stores for folks living in North America this October 1, while Europe/PAL territories and Asian countries will get theirs a month later, retailing for $249 and an equivalent amount in Euros, of course. As stated earlier, the PSP go will co-exist with the PSP-3000 in retail stores as gamers as well as those who are curious learn to decide which is the best possible portable gaming system for them. What makes the PSP go different is it won’t come with any UMD drive - instead, it will ditch all disc-based content by catering to those who want on-demand entertainment, featuring 16GB of internal memory as well as the ability to receive digital entertainment via the PlayStation Network. Sounds fine and dandy, but what about less developed markets where over-the-air download speeds are excruciatingly slow? Guess those folks will just have to settle for regular PSP-3000s.
Some of the interesting features available on the spanking new PSP go include an easy sliding panel alongside original applications, a game sleep function that lets you operate the XrossMediaBar while suspending gameplay for the moment, Bluetooth connectivity and a wide range of accessories to go along with it. What do you think of the form factor, and will the PSP go do for Sony what the DS Lite did for Nintendo?
